One player many assumed the Flames would be trading this year is goaltender Jacob Markstrom. However, NHL insider David Pagnotta just reported that the team now plans on holding onto him for the remainder of the season. Notably, Markstrom still has two years left on his contract after this one.
Other reporters have also come out backing up Pagnotta's initial story. The 34-year-old netminder certainly seems to be staying in Calgary, at least for the rest of the season.
Markstrom has a 2.54 goals-against-average this season and a .914 save percentage, both very respectable numbers, especially given how poor the Flames have been this season. Be sure to stay tuned to see if the team changes their mind about the netminder.
