The Calgary Flames appear ready to sell of plenty of players ahead of the March 8 trade deadline, but now, a twist in the tale of defenseman Noah Hanifin could lead to him having a change of heart.
Noah Hanifin discusses the impact trade talks have had on his family
It's been no secret for a while now that Hanifin along with other UFA's may be on the way out of Calgary, and with so many trade rumours, it must be weighing on his mind.
Now, he has talked with Sportsnet's Eric Francis, opening up on not only that, but how whispers and a potential move are impacted by his family.
«It's a huge decision, and my family plays a huge part in that,» he opened up.
«My fiancée, my parents, my brother and sisters were all home, so I was able to discuss with them the whole situation because obviously it's going to be coming to a head sooner rather than later.»
A decision coming soon from Hanifin's side?
Despite those trade rumours, the Flames have been open to negotiating a deal with Hanifin, and have seemingly left the decision up to him, but now, they're expecting an answer very soon.
Just like how Johnny Gaudreau's family effected his decision to move on from Calgary, that may be the same situation here, and with a resolution coming soon, it could change the future of the Flames one way or another.
