After his Blackhawks lost 6-1 in preseason action, Bedard was asked how he felt about it. Bedard gave us a funny and revealing answer
It is nice to see a little personality and sense of humor from the young star, especially since the mood in the locker room might not be as good towards the end of the season if the Hawks are among the league's worst teams. He did admit that every loss hurts though, regardless of the situation.
Last season the Blackhawks were among the very worst teams in the league. It was hard to watch but it was worth it as they secured a generational talent in Connor Bedard. This year though, the team will look to be more competitive, especially after they brought in veteran players including Taylor Hall, Nick Foligno, and Corey Perry. show_image_318639_5
That being said, the Blackhawks are still going to be rebuilding. It would take a minor miracle for them to be in the playoff picture this season. As a result, they will look to focus on individual performances and player development. Bedard figures to be the Calder favorite so at least he could be bringing some kind of hardware back to Chicago.
If the Blackhawks struggle like they did against Detroit into the regular season the frustration will certainly only get worse. Hopefully Bedard and his veteran team mates can keep a positive outlook and take a step back to view the bigger picture. Otherwise, it will be a long season for everyone.
