Not only will their February 25th encounter be his first return to Chicago since being traded to the New York Rangers, but it will be the jersey retirement ceremony of legend Chris Chelios.

When asked about what all of those factors will mean to Kane, this is what he had to say;

"It'll be fun to go back there on February 25th. Chelios' jersey going up and the first game back on the road, so it'll be a fun night."

"I have no idea. I've always played with a bit of a chip on the shoulder, so hopefully I have a little bit that night and can play a good game and help the Wings win."

Kane was interested in a return to Chicago?

One surprising comment that Kane made about this past summer was that he expected a call from Chicago for a potential reunion as the team looked for veterans to surrounding budding young superstar Connor Bedard.

"Yeah, I mean, I never really knew, right? Especially after that first pick, I was like, OK, maybe they'll try to bring, even like Tazer or myself back."

"I know when I was a young guy, it really helped having some older guys around like Robert Lang, (Martin) Havlat, Yanick Perrault and Patrick Lalime, guys like that. Obviously, we had some young guys coming up that were pretty special players, and that made it pretty easy on me, too. It seemed like they wanted to go in a direction where they were going to bring in some different type of veterans. Yeah, it's what it is. Good for them. You don't think about it too much."

Ultimately, it seems as though there's nothing but love for the two sides given all that he did for the organization over the past 15 years, and when the time comes, Kane's jersey will hang in the rafters too, so this should be a very fun night for all.
