Mark Recchi's hockey career is nothing short of legendary. Making his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1988-89 season, Recchi played 1,652 games and posted 1,533 career points. He won the Stanley Cup three timesfirst with Pittsburgh in 1991, then with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006, and finally with the Boston Bruins in his last season at age 42. His achievements earned him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Despite his success on the ice, Recchi's coaching career has faced challenges. After a short stint with the New Jersey Devils, he was relieved of his assistant coaching duties alongside Alain Nasreddine.
Recently, Recchi was again let go, this time by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Hired partway through last season, he was informed he would not be returning. As of now, no replacement has been named.
Being fired twice in the last few years is undoubtedly tough. While Recchi will always be respected as a star player, his coaching reputation is taking a hit. It may take some time for him to find another opportunity in the NHL.
