Today NHL insider Chris Johnston was able to do some digging and confirm that NHL teams are doing their research on Corey Perry.
Johnston would go on to say that teams are interested in having Perry the player on their roster. As the teams do their research this could lead to his market heating up. Today one Canadian team was suggested as a potential landing spot for the controversial forward.
Today a journalist by the name of Jim Matheson wrote a piece potentially connecting the Edmonton Oilers to Corey Perry.
Matheson suggests the Oilers could be in on the controversial forward because they have signed this kind of player in the past. They of course signed Evander Kane amidst his gambling and covid protocol controversies. His signing has turned out to be a mostly positive thing from an on-ice perspective.
The Oilers have struggled mightily this season, particularly with their depth scoring. Perry would add that depth as well as some bite to the lineup. He would also however bring a media circus along as well.
Perry is the type of player and pedigree that Ken Holland loves to bring in. If they can clear all of the off-ice issues watch for the Oilers to be a major contender for Perry's services.
