There is a lot of debate and speculation about a possible suspension for Leon Draisaitl after his dirty hit on Aleksander Barkov in Game 2 last night.
Reports suggest that Barkov may have a broken jaw and could miss games in the Stanley Cup Finals because of Draisaitl's dangerous hit:
"Aleksander Barkov has a broken jaw. There are few injuries to the face that hockey players can't 'suck it up' from. Stitches or a broken nose, sure. Broken jaw, definitely not. #oilers #panthers #nhl"
On the play, Draisaitl received a two-minute penalty but remained in the game, while Barkov's night ended halfway through the third period.
Many people believe Draisaitl should face more consequences, especially if Barkov misses games:
"This has to be worth at least a game suspension for Draisaitl. That's some textbook intent to injure."
Now, all eyes are on the NHL's Department of Player Safety. As seen in past playoff rounds, they don't hand out suspensions easily. We'll know more before Game 3. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
