Despite nearly blowing a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Florida Panthers finally celebrated their first Stanley Cup win in 30 years.
Celebrations were wild in South Florida, even as several key players left in free agency. Now, their celebrations with the Stanley Cup will end as they officially return it to the Keeper of the Cup for engraving, immortalizing their victory.
The Panthers' names will join the bottom band of the Stanley Cup, dating back to the Capitals in 2018. Once engraved, their names will remain on the Cup for at least 60 years before being enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame. In 2023, the Keeper of the Cup started engraving names earlier, so when captain Aleksander Barkov returns to Finland for his day with the Cup, his name will already be on it.
More history was made in 2024, as Evan Rodrigues became the first "Evan" to be engraved on the Cup after a fantastic season. For all the players, their day with the Cup will be an unforgettable experience.
