During summer trading season, the Boson Bruins have inched their way to a new, hopefully Cup-winning crew. As part of their building strategy, the team dealt out their goalie Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for Mark Kestalic, Joonas Korpisalo, and the 25th overall pick in the recent NHL draft.
However, the team had not made a deal to extend their other leading goaltender Jeremy Swayman immediately. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney had mentioned in a press conference they had not stopped working on one, emphasizing it as their top priority.
However, both parties had yet to make a deal by today, the deadline for players to file for arbitration and get a third party to come up with an unbiased number. However, Swayman did not file and can receive offers from other teams as a restricted free agent.
With no deal on the table and no plans for outside assistance, a giant question mark still hangs over the Boston Bruins. Hopefully, whatever spot they land will not force them to bite off more than they can chew.
