As part of the festivities, Matthew Tkachuk and Aaron Ekblad brought the Stanley Cup to Ft. Lauderdale Beach, creating an unforgettable moment for Panthers fans.
These two stars took their celebration to the next level by baptizing the iconic trophy in the Atlantic Ocean, to the sheer delight of fans and beachgoers. This wasn't just a symbolic gesture; it showed the Panthers' deep connection with their community and appreciation for the support throughout their glory season. It hasn't always been easy for the Panthers. A decade ago, Ekblad and other players would go to the mall on off days, offering free tickets to anyone with a state driver's license.
The Panthers were once a laughingstock and an afterthought in the Sunshine State. Not anymore.
Also in the celebration video was a championship belt, a new addition by the NHL.
If the Panthers win again in the future, ocean baptisms could become a new tradition for them. Regardless, the franchise and fanbase have waited 31 years for this moment. Many of these players have dreamed of winning the Cup since they were toddlers.
This dream became a reality in dramatic fashion, with the Panthers winning 2-1 in Game 7 after blowing a 3-0 series lead against the Edmonton Oilers.
And the celebration continued as the Cup made its way to the Elbo Room, with Tkachuk and Ekblad even spotted on a golf cart.
What a way to celebrate! Congrats, Panthers nation. You deserve it. Now stop reading this and go party!
