Multiple trades completed following Florida's Stanley Cup victory
Throughout the year, many NHL trades come with conditions, often related to the Stanley Cup. With Florida's recent victory, three trades have now been finalized.
Monday night was historic for the NHL, and in the end, the Florida Panthers triumphed 2-1, winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. With the Finals over, several trades with conditions tied to the outcome have been completed.
First, the Panthers' trade with the Buffalo Sabres for Kyle Okposo involved a significant contract bonus after he signed a new deal with Buffalo last summer.

Next, Florida's trade to acquire veteran Cup winner Vladimir Tarasenko has changed. The Senators will now receive a third-round pick in 2026 instead of a fourth-round pick.
The 2024 4th round pick #TimeToHunt sent to #GoSensGo in the Vladimir Tarasenko trade WILL upgrade to a 2026 3rd round pick.
Lastly, the Edmonton Oilers' trade involving Adam Henrique and the Anaheim Ducks did not change, with Anaheim receiving a fifth-round pick instead of a fourth-round pick.
The 2025 5th round pick #LetsGoOilers sent to #FlyTogether in the Adam Henrique trade will NOT upgrade to a 2025 4th round pick.
Trade deadlines are full of risks for teams aiming for the Stanley Cup. Even though only two out of these three trades paid off, both Florida and Edmonton are likely satisfied with their decisions in hindsight.
