Michael McCarron of the Nashville Predators has been fined $2,000 by the NHL Department of Player Safety for goalie interference on Vancouver's Casey DeSmith. The incident occurred during the first period of the Predators recent matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. McCarron delivered a heavy hit on DeSmith behind the Vancouver net.
The fine comes after deliberation by the NHL DoPS regarding the severity of the hit. Despite the impact, DeSmith appears to have come out of the incident without significant injury.
Both McCarron and DeSmith are expected to be available for their upcoming game four matchup. The Predators will aim to tie the series as they face off against the Canucks.
