Sheldon Keefe takes a shot at the Maple Leafs after getting hired by the Devils

Today, Sheldon Keefe spoke for the first time as the new head coach of the New Jersey Devils and took a subtle shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After a disappointing playoff exit, the Maple Leafs decided to part ways with Keefe, a decision widely supported by fans and media.
"Keefe says he didn't get much sleep the day he was let go as coach of the #Leafs. "I had a pretty good sense that day I was getting called in for a meeting."

Following his dismissal, it didn't take long for the New Jersey Devils to express interest in hiring him.
Keefe recounted how quickly things moved after his departure from Toronto:
Sheldon Keefe says that after posting his thank you video to Toronto he took his wife Jackie out to lunch and in the middle of the lunch Brad Treliving called to tell him that Tom Fitzgerald had asked to speak with him.

Fitzgerald on the process with Keefe after a few calls: "I let him know if he wanted the job, it was his."
Today, Keefe was officially introduced as the head coach of the New Jersey Devils. During his opening remarks, he reflected on his time with the Maple Leafs and expressed enthusiasm for his new role:
Sheldon Keefe, upon formally being introduced as #NJDevils head coach, says he found quick closure after being fired by the #leafs.
"This is a fresh start and a great opportunity ahead. It's completely unique and different."
"Keefe shouts out the @NJDevils analytics team as something that drew him to Jersey."
Many Maple Leafs fans felt Keefe lacked the passion and drive needed for playoff success. He now has the chance to prove them wrong as he starts his journey with the young core of the New Jersey Devils.
