Following an impressive start to the 2023-24 KHL season, Dinamo Minsk have officially announced that their starting goaltender, Alexei Kolosov, is headed to the United States to join the Philadelphia Flyers.
While the Flyers have yet to confirm the news or disclose whether the 22-year-old will start in the AHL or join the Flyers roster directly, Kolosov seems prepared for the transition.
In 47 games this season, the former third-round pick has maintained a 2.39 GAA and a .907 save percentage in one of the most competitive leagues worldwide. He now looks to form a goaltending duo with rookie standout Samuel Ersson.
With recent frustration expressed by coach John Tortorella regarding backup goalie Felix Sandstrom's performance, it's apparent that the team needs a new backup. However, the question is does Tortorella intend to rely on a goaltending tandem with two young goalies aged 23 and 22?
Regardless, Kolosov's move to North America indicates a significant opportunity, especially considering his consistent performance throughout his professional career. Now, he has the chance to prove himself at the NHL level.
