The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a major decision regarding their $26M starting goaltender Tristan Jarry fueling rumors that he could soon be placed on waivers.

Jarry has struggled this season, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are now turning to Alex Nedeljkovic as their starting goalie.

Through seven games, the Penguins have a 3-4-0 record, and Jarry has been one of the team's biggest issues in net. In three games, Jarry has posted a 5.47 goals-against average (GAA) and an .836 save percentage, allowing 12 goals on just 73 shots. This poor performance has raised questions about his future with the team.

Recently Nedeljkovic returned to the lineup & while his first game wasn't great the Penguins seem to believe he could be a long term option especially alongside 22 year old Joel Blomqvist. Ahead of their game against the Calgary Flames, the team announced Nedeljkovic would start, with Blomqvist as the backup. While this doesn't officially mark the end for Jarry in Pittsburgh, it's certainly not a good sign for him.

Over the past two years, Jarry has posted decent numbers, with a save percentage above .900 and a GAA under 3.00, so it's unclear why he's struggling so much this season. The Penguins, aiming for a return to the playoffs, are focused on which goalie gives them the best chance to win. If Nedeljkovic performs well, Jarry's future with the team could be in jeopardy.

According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Penguins considered waiving Jarry and explored trade options, but his recent struggles and contract make it difficult. With Jarry signed through 2027-28 at a $5.375 million cap hit, the team faces a tough decision. Kevin Weekes of NHL Network believes Jarry is better than what he's shown and that improving goaltending will help the Penguins get back on track.

It remains unclear when Jarry will get another chance in net.
