It hasn't been easy for the Pittsburgh Penguins' netminders this season. Joel Blomqvist ended up with most of the workload, appearing in five games out of nine for the Penguins. He currently leads the team's goalie unit with a .911 save percentage and a 3.34 goals-against average. The team's number one goalie Tristan Jarry has been struggling a lot, forcing the organization to take a drastic measure.
Today, despite a 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers last night, we learned that the team decided to send Jarry to the AHL, on a conditioning loan to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The insider Frank Seravali shared interesting details about that type of loans, saying Jarry agreed to be sent down, he's exempted from going through the waivers, he can't be in the AHL longer than two weeks, and his salary remains on the cap hit, as if he were in the NHL.

Jarry took part in three games this season. His struggles are highlighted with his 5.47 GAA and .836 SV%. In his last game, on October 16th against the Buffalo Sabres, Jarry was replaced after allowing three goals on five shots in the first ten minutes of the game.
The Penguins hope to see their number one goalie find his rhythm in the AHL and perform well when he gets called up after his conditioning stint.
Meanwhile, Blomqvist should play most games, with Alex Nedeljkovic as number two.
