Drafted in the 5th round (146th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft the Czech winger quickly impressed with his skating, accurate shot & hockey smarts. Born on April 16 2002 in Tabor Czech Republic Novak has proudly represented his country internationally including at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
Before entering the NHL Novak turned heads in the WHL with the Kelowna Rockets where he showcased his offensive skill recording 58 points in 55 games during the 2019-2020 season. Although only 5'9», Novak's speed, creativity, and determination on the ice made him a valuable prospect for the Wild's lineup.
In June 2022, Novak shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer, requiring him to pause his hockey career to undergo treatment during the 2022-23 season. His fighting spirit and commitment to returning to hockey earned widespread admiration, and he resumed training in 2023 after successful treatment, eager to continue his career.
Novak's journey back to the ice exemplifies his resilience and character, making him a fan favorite and a symbol of perseverance. Although his future with the Wild has come to an unexpected end, his comeback story and determination to succeed in hockey highlight his strength as both a player and a person.
