The Utah Hockey Club announced Friday afternoon that they have placed forward Kailer Yamamoto on waivers to assign him to the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners.
Similarly, winger Riley Tufte from the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild forward Pavel Novak have also been placed on waivers, with Novak's move intended for contract termination.
Yamamoto, 26, has yet to register a point this season, playing an average of 10 minutes and 40 seconds over three games for Utah. In Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, he played 10:44 and ended the game with a minus-1 rating. The Spokane, Washington native signed a one-year, two-way contract with Utah earlier this month, worth $775,000 at the NHL level.
Drafted 22nd overall in 2017, Yamamoto spent his first six NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, where he recorded 50 goals and 118 points over 244 regular-season games. Last season, he played with the Seattle Kraken, notching eight goals and 16 points in 59 games.
Meanwhile, Riley Tufte, also 26, has yet to score in two games with the Bruins this year. Novak, who was placed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild, also has no points in his two AHL games this season.
Stay tuned for updates as we keep an eye on the waiver wire for any new developments.
