The Edmonton Oilers have made their share of good and bad moves recently, but one deal that fell through is particularly painful for Oilers fans.

According to insider Elliotte Friedman, the St. Louis Blues recently tendered offer sheets to two of Edmonton's rising stars. However, before those offer sheets, the two teams were reportedly in talks for a trade that could have sent veteran forward Pavel Buchnevich to the Oilers.

Friedman mentioned that the proposed trade would have likely involved Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg in exchange for Buchnevich, who is in his prime and recently put up 27 goals and 63 points for the Blues. At 29, Buchnevich could have been a game-changer for Edmonton, especially in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the deal never materialized, and now the Oilers face the possibility of losing one or both of their young talents without compensation, unless they make some significant roster changes soon.
