Known for his fiery demeanor, Binnington has developed a reputation as one of the most hot-headed goaltenders in the NHL. This reputation has led to multiple physical altercations in recent years, a rarity among goaltenders in the league.
During Saturday night's game against the Nashville Predators, Binnington found himself in the midst of controversy once again. This time, it was Predators forward Luke Evangelista who was on the receiving end of Binnington's actions, as Binnington appeared to catch him in the face with the butt of his stick. This came after Evangelista made him look foolish on this goal which obviously triggered Binnington to retaliate.
While some may argue that this was accidental, with Binnington potentially intending to tap the posts rather than Evangelista's face, the goaltender's reputation precedes him. Many fans are unlikely to give him the benefit of the doubt.
