The San Jose Sharks have been an important part of their community for years, but now it looks like they might be moving.

The Sharks joined the NHL in 1991 and have played at the SAP Center arena since 1993. However, after 31 years, they might leave the SAP Center and possibly even San Jose.

Even if the #Sharks 🇺🇸 have to move out of San Jose due to the new SAP Center agreement, they will remain in the Bay Area.

On July 1st, 2025, the San Jose Sharks' arena management agreement with the city of San Jose changes, «unfavorably» for the Sharks, according to the Sharks' president Jonathan Becher.

The top options would likely be San Francisco or Oakland, but the team will push hard to remain in San Jose.

According to Insider Sheng Peng, the new SAP Center agreement is very unfavorable for the Sharks. While they might leave San Jose, the agreement says they can't move far and would consider places like San Francisco or Oakland.

Even though the team has struggled recently, the Sharks have built a strong connection with the city over the past three decades. Moving would be bittersweet, but if the new agreement is too unfavorable, it makes sense for them to look for a new home. With the Golden State Warriors moving to San Francisco, there might be potential for the Sharks to find a new arena there too.
