Recently, Pierre LeBrun dropped some major news about Steven Stamkos' contract talks with the Lightning.
Pierre Lebrun believes the Tampa Bay Lightning and F Steven Stamkos WILL reach a contract agreement, but no discussions will occur until the season is complete.
This is certainly a risky game for the Lightning to be playing but because Stamkos has carved out his entire career with the Bolts, he has a higher chance of staying.
If he does hit the open market, he will receive a lot of interest as he is currently at 15 goals and 35 points through 32 games this season. Any team looking for a veteran kick would offer Stamkos a contract but the relationship between the Lightning and Stamkos may be impossible to beat.
