Today, Landon DuPont, the latest junior hockey player to receive exceptional status, made his first media appearance and took a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

As the hockey season approaches, fresh faces are making their mark in both the NHL and draft conversations. One of those rising stars is Landon DuPont, the first overall pick in the WHL Draft and the newest exceptional status player in the league.

After his WHL debut, DuPont was asked which team he thought would win the Stanley Cup this season. He seized the moment to poke fun at the Toronto Maple Leafs, joking that they were already out of the running for the Cup. He then revealed that he and his family are Leafs fans but hinted that he might start rooting for the Vancouver Canucks now that he's playing in the West.

These comments from DuPont show off his personality and mirror what many Leafs fans have said over the years. Despite being frequent playoff contenders, confidence in the team's ability to win the Stanley Cup is low among their supporters.

The Leafs have plenty of fans to prove wrong this season, and now Landon DuPont can be added to that list. It will be interesting to see if his lighthearted prediction turns out to be true as the season unfolds.

Stay tuned for more updates.
