The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing immense pressure heading into the upcoming offseason, as they have not had any playoff success since 2004, which is beginning to take a toll on the players, management, and fans. This pressure is coming from various sources, including the fact that General Manager Kyle Dubas does not have a contract for the next season, and Auston Matthews, who will be entering the final year of his deal, wants to see the organization's potential for winning before signing a long-term contract with the team.

If Matthews decides to leave, it would be a massive blow for the Maple Leafs. Knowing the stakes, Dubas made a risky move with his goaltending situation this year, given the pressure he was under.

He let go of fan-favorite Jack Campbell in free agency and brought in two previously rejected goalies from other teams, Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov. Dubas received heavy criticism for this decision, but despite injuries, both goaltenders have performed well for the team this season.

The two goalies have taken turns leading the team in games and have played well, which has created a difficult decision for the Maple Leafs in selecting a starting goaltender for the playoffs.

Recently, NHL journalist Luke Fox made a tweet that pointed out an interesting fact about the two goaltenders.

Samsonov who has gotten into more games this season (37 to Murray's 25) has had a better home record, while Murray has had a better away record. Could the Maple Leafs use Samsonov at home and play Murray on the road?

Sheldon Keefe:

It's certainly something that has my attention.
