William Nylander's Contract Details And Signing Date Leaked By Insider
One of the most interesting stories to surround the Toronto Maple Leafs this season has been William Nylander's future. Now it seems as though the team is dead set on resigning him as it is believed the star winger will sign an extension with Toronto in the coming days.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals Contract Details For William Nylander Extension
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported today that the Leafs and Nylander are closing in on an eight-year contract extension. He also provided the average-annual-value for the deal while giving a rough timeline for when we can expect to hear an official announcement.
This comes just days after Nick Kypreos reported that the Leafs were closing in on an eight-year extension for Nylander around 11.25 million dollars a season.
"I wouldn't be surprised if it gets done soon... Nick Kypreos he reported they're talking in the 8x11.25M range. I don't know that for sure but I don't think Nick is off too much if he's off at all. I think they're kind of talking about that kind of range. That's not where Toronto was in the summer, now they're in that area and I do think that's going to get done"
All of this seems to indicate that things are getting very close to done then. Leafs fans should expect Nylander to sign an eight-year extension in the coming days with an average-annual-value north of 11 million dollars. While his play this season may warrant such a price, it remains to be seen whether or not he can keep up this pace or if this will simply be a career year.
