Pontus Holmberg facing a suspension for his dirty hit on Ridly Greig
Pontus Holmberg could face a suspension after delivering a dangerous hit on Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig in last night's preseason game.
During the play, all five Senators were skating toward the Toronto Maple Leafs' end when Holmberg came up from behind, dragging Greig down and tossing him aside. Greig's head hit the ice hard, leading to an upper-body injury that forced him to leave the game.
Pontus Holmberg received a two-minute minor penalty for roughing after his hit on Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig, but the Senators weren't satisfied with just that. In the third period, rookie Cole Reinhardt, known for his physical play, tracked down Holmberg and forced him into a fight.
Reinhardt went up against Holmberg, who isn't known for fighting. While Holmberg held his own, he ultimately lost the bout. The Maple Leafs also lost the game 2-1, with the Senators scoring a shorthanded goal late in the third period.
