The USA scored the 5-2 goal in the third period with five minutes remaining. The fifth goal from the USA may have caused the later issues in the game as forward Ryan Leonard blew a kiss to the crowd.
The USA then scored an empty netter 40 seconds later to make it 6-2.
Since both teams were competing for the gold, there was an intense competition. There was a confrontation between the two teams with about thirty seconds left in the game.
The USA eventually won as the clock expired.
Jonathan Lekkerimäki got into a heated exchange over something that Cutter Gauthier either had done, or something from the squad he played on, as the teams were shaking hands.
The video of the incident is here:
Clearly something was wrong, or perhaps it was just the disappointment of losing in front of supporters at home. The majority of people would assume that the Sweden players were also offended by the USA players' bullying of the crowd.
