Today NHL insider Darren Dreger was able to provide some insight on the Elias Pettersson situation. Pettersson remains unsigned for next season but Dreger says there's no reason to panic.
Pettersson is set to be a restricted free agent which leads to less finality to him being a free agent. This is why he is less of a risk to keep unsigned than a player like William Nylander who can just walk.
Along with Dreger's update, we also got some thoughts from Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin as well.
Patrik Allvin also gave insight along with Darren Dreger and the comments give off the same vibe as Dreger.
While the sides aren't talking numbers that could come quickly. Lines of communication being open are important either way. If this bleeds into the offseason then that is where things could get sketchy for the Canucks.
As the months go along more chatter will surround Elias Pettersson. For now, all is calm and quiet on the Vancouver front as negotiations continue.
