Head Coach Rick Bowness Steps Away From The Team

Rick Bowness will miss Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers due to a minor medical procedure. Bowness has returned to Winnipeg for treatment and will rejoin the team once his condition improves.

Good morning from New York, where we've just learned #NHLJets coach Rick Bowness is taking a medical leave from the club. He's returned to Winnipeg for what is being described as a minor procedure. No timeline on return. AC Scott Arniel takes over in interim.

Associate coach Scott Arneil will serve as the interim head coach until Bowness returns.

The Jets began a five-game road trip with a 6-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. They will continue their road trip in the New York area with games against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday and the New York Islanders on Saturday, before concluding in Washington D.C. against the Capitals.

With a record of 43-19-5, the Jets are currently first in the Central Division with 91 points. They share this point total with the Colorado Avalanche (43-20-5), who have played one more game than the Jets.

Bowness, 69, has been leading the Jets for two seasons, taking over from interim head coach Dave Lowry at the start of the 2022-23 season.
