In breaking news, the NHL has announced that Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov has officially been suspended.

Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov has received a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head on Tampa Bay Lightning forward Conor Sheary.

Florida's Dmitry Kulikov has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on Tampa Bay's Conor Sheary.

During Saturday's game, Kulikov delivered a hit to Sheary's head in front of the Lightning's net early in the second period, resulting in a five-minute major penalty and a match penalty.

At 33 years old, Kulikov has recorded 16 assists in 64 games this season, marking his eighth season with the Panthers.

Originally drafted 14th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2009 NHL Draft, Kulikov has also played for several other NHL teams including the Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, and Pittsburgh Penguins, before returning to the Panthers this season.
