In a recent incident during a Finnish LIIGA game, former NHL top-10 pick Nick Ritchie is facing major consequences for his actions on the ice, resulting in an eight-game suspension.
Yesterday, Ritchie, who had been playing in the Finnish league, was penalized with a five-minute major and a game misconduct for an incident that raised concerns among spectators and garnered attention on social media.
Today, official reports confirmed that Ritchie would be serving an eight-game suspension for what was described as an attack on a defenseless player.
Originally the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft by the Anaheim Ducks, Ritchie has moved between several teams during his career, including stints with Anaheim, Boston, Toronto, Arizona, and Calgary.
After an unsuccessful preseason tryout (PTO) with the St. Louis Blues, Ritchie turned to overseas play in Finland, where this recent incident has led to a significant suspension.
