The regular season has officially taken off across the league, as three games took place on October tenth. Among the most anticipated was the season opener for the recent Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, in Amerant Bank Arena. Despite concerns that the game would be canceled due to Hurricane Milton, they were able to play against the Boston Bruins, who they defeated in Game 6 of the second round of the 2024 NHL playoffs.
As the fans in the stadium expected, the Florida Panthers took an easy lead. Though they were meeting low expectations, not every player on the Bruins could keep their cool. Boston forward Max Jones grew angry at Florida's Evan Rodrigues, who appeared to be taunting him. However, when Jones went to slash the Panthers forward, Jones was then assessed a two-minute minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Unfortunately for Max Jones, the Bruins could not finish closing the gap, losing to the Florida Panthers 4-6. Without the help of Jeremy Swayman or the newly-traded Linus Ullmark, it is clear Boston is going to have to step up their scoring ability.
While the Florida Panthers will be taking on the Ottawa Senators, the Bruins will play their next game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, October 10th from their home ice. Hopefully, Max Jones will have become a little more aware of his surroundings. Otherwise, he could develop a reputation as a liability in Boston.
