Tanner Jeannot drops the gloves with Luke Schenn in a heavyweight spirited tilt
Tempers boiled over in Nashville tonight as former Predators forward Tanner Jeannot dropped the gloves with veteran defenseman Luke Schenn.
Just about half way through tonight's game between the Kings and Preds, the Kings were taking a faceoff in the Predators zone. Nashville won the faceoff and proceeded to exit the zone, but play was quickly halted as Tanner Jeannot and Luke Schenn immediately dropped the gloves after they exchanged a couple of shoves.
One fan correctly pointed out that these two players have actually fought each other in the NHL before. However, it was three years ago almost to the day, not two years ago, as they fought on November 5th 2021.
Jeannot was the consensus winner in their previous fight so this one may very well have been a rematch initiated by Schenn. Regardless. he ended up on top this time quite literally as he pulled Jeannot to the ice, ending the fight. This time around, the consensus was quite the opposite as Schenn clearly got the better of the Kings forward.
Even beloved former NHL enforcer Paul Bissonnette commented on the fight, complementing Schenn's form as he pummeled Jeannot with haymakers.
One fan questioned what Jeannot is good for in the NHL if he can't even fight well. After all, he has just a single goal in 12 games this season with LA. Last year he had 14 points in 55 games with Tampa Bay, but he has firmly failed to replicate his rookie season where he set career highs across the board with 24 goals, 17 assists, and 41 points.
The Kings are 6-3-3 this season coming into tonight. Jeannot has not been much of a factor for them outside of tonight's fight which he handily lost. Still though, the Kings hold a 1-0 lead going into a final frame so perhaps they got some energy from the tilt.
