The four remaining NHL players have been revealed officially. Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote are set to surrender to police in London, Ontario, in relation to an alleged incident during a 2018 Hockey Canada event. The players, part of Canada's 2018 World Junior team, are expected to surrender before a press conference by the London Police Service on Monday.
The alleged incident occurred at a London hotel on June 19, 2018, following a Hockey Canada Foundation golf and gala event in which the accuser has been identified as E.M..
Notably, none of the allegations against the players have been proven. London police initially investigated in 2019 but closed the case due to insufficient evidence. In May 2022, a $3.55-million lawsuit settlement was revealed between E.M. and Hockey Canada, leading to public backlash and renewed investigations by the NHL and London police.
Former Ottawa Senators player Alex Formenton has already surrendered in connection to the case. The remaining four players, all 25 years old, have taken leaves of absence from their NHL teams: Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers), Dillon Dube (Calgary Flames), Michael McLeod (New Jersey Devils), and Cal Foote (New Jersey Devils). They are expected to be photographed, fingerprinted, and sign undertakings during their surrender to police.
