The Penguins had a disappointing season and didn't like the direction this management group was taking them, so with the team still hoping to compete during the Crosby and Malkin era, they want to go in a new direction.
Burke, who has been on a few teams now during his career, has already found himself a new job, just hours after being fired.
According to Insider Rob Rossi of The Athletic, Brian Burke will be going back on television for the Canadian networks.
Ron Hextall had 1-year remaining on contract that paid him $3.5M annually though his deal was backloaded.
