The Flames have announced the acquisition of defenseman Brayden Pachal from the Vegas Golden Knights via waivers.
Hailing from Estevan, Sask., Pachal has spent the last five seasons with the Golden Knights and their AHL affiliates, the Chicago Wolves and the Henderson Silver Knights. The 24-year-old, who has played in 29 career NHL games, recorded an assist in 17 games with Vegas this season.
Flames general manager Craig Conroy expressed enthusiasm about the addition.
Many believe this acquisition is a precursor to a Chris Tanev and/or Noah Hanifin trade. Pachal will definitely see more of an opportunity once the Flames have made a decision with their pending UFAs.
Stay tuned for more updates.
