Gary Bettman and the NHL recently provided clarification of their earlier ruling on banning pride jerseys during warmups and extended this ban to include pride tape that players use on their sticks to show support.
As a result, many in the media have been criticizing the NHL, calling them out for their hypocrisy on the widely used "hockey is for everyone" slogan. Now, it appears one NHL team will go as far as boycotting the rule, as the co-founder of Pride Tape revealed they bought an entire case after the announcement.
The NHL changed the rules after only a handful of players voiced their opposition to wearing pride jerseys. The vast majority of players enjoy showing their support for everyone, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
This hasn't changed, as players have spoken about their intent to continue to support Pride in whatever way possible.
