Although Patrick Kane signed in Detroit, insider Elliotte Friedman revealed his heart desired to play somewhere else. He disclosed that the Dallas Stars are Kane's preferred team.
He revealed insights from a source indicating that the Dallas Stars hold a special place in Kane's preferences.
It looks like Dallas couldn't make it work. It's most likely a money and term situation where Detroit was able to offer something better. There was also a report about travel issues in Dallas which clarifies Patrick Kane wanting to sign with an Eastern Conference team.
