Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman is set to face a hearing on Monday for a slew-footing incident involving Detroit Red Wings winger Alex DeBrincat, as announced by the NHL's department of player safety on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the third period when Hartman was targeting Red Wings centre Michael Rasmussen, who had possession of the puck.
While the play resulted in no penalty for Hartman, DeBrincat received a cross-checking penalty for his retaliatory action. Later in the same frame, both Hartman and Moritz Seider received roughing penalties for their altercation.
The Wild ultimately lost the game 4-1, marking their seventh consecutive defeat. Additionally, they rank as the NHL's third-most penalized team this season, averaging 12.1 penalty minutes per game.
In a similar incident earlier in the week, Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander faced a hearing for slew-footing San Jose's Kevin Labanc and received a fine of $2,864.58, the maximum under the league's collective bargaining agreement.
Ryan Hartman, who currently boasts seven goals and 11 points this season, awaits the outcome of Monday's hearing.
