Last summer, Patrick Roy stepped down from his roles as head coach and general manager of the Quebec Remparts in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Despite expressing a desire to return to NHL coaching, Roy reportedly turned down two offers from Western Conference teams. Radio host Ray Cloutier of Montreal's 98.5 Sports FM mentioned the challenges of travel in the West as a factor, citing Roy's past experiences with jet lag during his coaching stint with the Colorado Avalanche.
This is what Cloutier reported on the air (translated from French):

During his initial three-year tenure with the Colorado Avalanche, he achieved notable success, winning the Jack Adams Award for NHL Coach of the Year in 2014. Roy led the Avalanche to a 52-22-8 record in his first season, but after two consecutive playoff absences, he resigned as head coach and vice-president of hockey operations. Jared Bednar took over and guided the team to its third championship in 2022.
In addition to his coaching roles, Roy served as the general manager of the Remparts, leading them to Memorial Cup championships in 2006 and 2023. Reflecting on his illustrious playing career, Roy played for the Montreal Canadiens and the Avalanche, securing four Stanley Cups (two with the Habs in 1986 and 1993, and two with the Avs in 1996 and 2001).
The question now arises. Could he be considering a return to the NHL, potentially in the Eastern Conference?
