Tyler Ennis entered the NHL with plenty of doubters, but after a long and successful career, he retires as a respected veteran in hockey.

In 2008, the Buffalo Sabres took a chance on the 5-foot-9 forward, drafting him 28th overall in the first round. That decision paid off, as Ennis went on to play eight seasons with the team, becoming a fan favorite in Buffalo. Now, in 2024, Ennis has announced his retirement on social media after spending the last few years playing overseas.

Although Ennis hasn't played in the NHL for the past two years, his career was impressive. The 34-year-old played 700 games for Buffalo, Minnesota, Toronto, Ottawa, and Edmonton, finishing with 144 goals and 346 points. He proved that size doesn't matter as long as you have the skill, drive, and determination to succeed in the NHL.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Ennis is known as one of the most respected players of his generation. While he never won a Stanley Cup, he made a lasting impact on the league and will likely have opportunities in hockey as he moves on to the next chapter of his life.
