Veteran forward Max Pacioretty is likely to sign with a new team soon, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.
Pacioretty has received offers from at least three teams, though it's unclear if they are for a one-way contract or a professional tryout.
Once known as a top goal scorer, Pacioretty's recent years have been plagued by injuries, including two Achilles tears that nearly ended his career. His last standout season was in 2020-21 with the Vegas Golden Knights, where he scored 24 goals and 51 points in 48 games. The following season, he managed 19 goals and 37 points in just 39 games, despite dealing with foot and wrist fractures.
In the summer of 2022, Pacioretty suffered his first Achilles tear, leading the Golden Knights to trade him to the Carolina Hurricanes for salary cap relief. Unfortunately, his time with the Hurricanes was short-lived; he played only five games before re-injuring his Achilles, ending his season.
Determined to continue his career, Pacioretty signed a bonus-laden contract with the Washington Capitals in free agency last year. He returned to the ice in January and played 47 games, scoring four goals and 23 points, though he saw limited ice time-the least since his second year in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens in 2009-10.
Pacioretty, who won the Bill Masterton Trophy in 2011-12, is still chasing his first Stanley Cup after 16 years in the NHL. Depending on where he signs, he could be a valuable middle-six forward for a team looking for experienced offensive depth.
