Yesterday, the Panthers canceled their planned Stanley Cup ring ceremony after state officials declared a state of emergency in several counties, including Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade.
Despite this the Panthers announced that the game vs the Bruins is still on for now as the Bruins are already in Florida. However the situation is constantly changing & the storm's exact path is uncertain.
According to the National Hurricane Center in Coral Gables, FL, the storm is heading east toward Florida, taking an unusual route that could affect the West Coast. Forecasters are tracking two possible scenarios. Milton could veer north toward Tampa Bay impacting the Tampa Bay Lightning & Amalie Arena or head south potentially striking the Fort Myers area & passing near Sunrise where the Panthers play.
The storm is predicted to reach category 4 or category 5 strength which could cause severe damage to infrastructure & lead to dangerous storm surges. As the situation evolves the NHL & both Florida teams will keep a close watch to determine where Milton will make landfall.
Stay tuned for more updates.
