The NHL's new marquee team, the Utah Hockey Club, wrapped up their first round last night with an interview featuring GM Bill Armstrong. During the interview, Armstrong discussed their picks: Tij Iginla, son of Hockey Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla, and a powerful sniper from the WHL, selected sixth overall, and athletic center Cole Beaudoin, picked later in the first round.
However, Armstrong made a notable slip-up. Instead of referring to the players as members of the Utah Hockey Club, he accidentally revealed the team's name as the Utah Yetis. The Yetis had been a popular choice since the franchise was announced in April, alongside other contenders like the Outlaws and Venom, but it seems the Yetis have been chosen.
Here are the two drafted players, Tij Iginla and Cole Beaudoin, in their Utah Hockey Club jerseys:
With Utah Hockey Club owner Ryan Smith promising to announce the team name for the 2025-26 season, the clock is ticking. Will Bill Armstrong's slip-up prove accurate? We'll have to wait and see. For now, Utah fans can celebrate their first two drafted players.
