Patrick Kane has been linked to a countless number of teams. Some of the favorites have included the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton Oilers. Now a new contender to secure his services has emerged.
A report from Larry Brooks of the NY Post has suggested a couple of ideas surrounding Patrick Kane. The first is that the New York Rangers are not a likely destination. The second is that the Toronto Maple Leafs are a strong contender and that is where Brooks believes Kane will ultimately sign.
To bring in Kane the Maple Leafs would need to clear enough cap space to sign him. Currently, they are very close to the ceiling. Unless Kane would be willing to take a pay cut major moves would be needed.
Kane would provide the Maple Leafs with a major offensive boost in the middle of their lineup. He could also be potential insurance in case things do not work out with a William Nylander extension.
As Kane draws closer to full health the rumors of his next destination will only intensify. The Maple Leafs are likely to now be in the conversation until Kane ultimately decides where he wants to play next.
