It's no secret the Toronto Maple Leafs are actively seeking a defenseman to address their defensive issues, espescially since being hit with some major injuries. While the focus has been mainly on Chris Tanev of the Calgary Flames, recent reports indicate interest in Rasmus Ristolainen of the Philadelphia Flyers has picked up.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs have already explored the possibility of acquiring Ristolainen but the Flyers off to a strong start, they are reluctant to part ways with him.
In a desperate move, the Leafs find themselves in need of a defenseman, especially with the season-ending injury to John Klingberg, who is set to undergo hip surgery.
This unfortunate development, coupled with other defensive injuries, has pushed the Leafs into a situation where they must aggressively pursue a reliable blueliner capable of handling significant minutes down the stretch.
