Despite trade talks surrounding the Boston Bruins goaltender, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed why Linus Ullmark has yet to be traded.

Linus Ullmark has quickly made a name for himself in the NHL. Following an impressive season with the Boston Bruins in the 2022-23 season, the then 28-year-old goaltender earned that year's Vezina Trophy.
"No wonder Linus Ullmark (@Icebeardude) took home the Vezina Trophy. 🙅‍♂️"

Yet, despite another solid season, Boston's GM Don Sweeney is apparently on the fence about keeping this player. Linus Ullmark has been a top target for several teams, including the Ottawa Senators. Though he has a 14-team no-trade list, David Pagnotta shared he would be willing to waive this clause for the right deal.
"The Leafs are not in the mix for Ullmark, though, as Toronto is on his no-trade list. Ottawa is also believed to be on his list, but two separate sources have told me he would accept a trade to the Senators if a deal between the two teams is finalized.

Talks between the Bruins and Senators are ongoing, but Boston is not interested in taking back Joonas Korpisalo in a trade – Korpisalo has four more years left on his contract and comes with a $4 million cap hit – and Ottawa GM Steve Staios will need to be creative if he wants to land Ullmark or another No.1 netminder."

However, even with all parties acting in near-total cooperation, trade discussions seem to have reached a standstill. According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins may have trouble moving on from Ullmark provided the player's extension.
"Friedman on a potential Linus Ullmark trade (TJMS): 'I do think the extension has become an issue in some of these talks'"

Though an extension and high salary can make the player hard to attain, there is little doubt that Linus Ullmark can get a spot on a team for the next NHL season. Hopefully, wherever he ends up will provide him the play style he is looking for.
