The Bruins netminder used his trade protection to reject a deal as the deadline that would have sent him to the LA Kings. Now, as a pending free agent, it seems like he has faced the music, and understands that his days with the Bruins are over. As a result, he has reportedly agreed to waive his no-trade clause in order to go to the Ottawa Senators.
Notably, the Senators will want to have Ullmark signed before trading for him so they know exactly what they are getting, and on what terms. However, the goaltender is not eligible to sign an extension until July 1st. As a result, we will likely see the Bruins sign the goaltender to a contract extension on July 1st and subsequently traded to the Ottawa Senators.
Ullmark really came into his own after a rough start to his career with the Buffalo Sabres. In six years with the Sabres Ullmark put up a .912 save percentage and a 2.78 goals-against-average. In his time with the Bruins, those numbers improved to a .924 save percentage and 2.28 GAA. Hopefully for the Senators' sake, they get the Bruins version of Ullmark and not the Buffalo version.
