For a long time, Bruins fans enjoyed having the best goaltending duo in the NHL with Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman. The team's trade of Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in late June was a tough pill to swallow, but many hoped Swayman would step up to take on the starting role. However, it now appears that contract negotiations with Swayman have stalled.
A Boston Bruins media outlet on X, "Bruins Network," revealed some surprising news that fans might not like. It seems that Swayman and his agent have been unusually quiet during this process, with little communication reported. Meanwhile, Bruins GM Don Sweeney and the team have been ready to engage in talks, but Swayman's camp has been reluctant to move forward.
Some fans are defending Swayman, blaming Sweeney for not securing a deal during the last season and instead delaying negotiations until this summer.
Swayman played in 44 games for the Bruins last season, winning 25 of them, with a 2.53 GAA and a .916 save percentage. The team was counting on him to start in up to 60 games this season, but with the way things are looking, there's a possibility he might not be there for any.
