The team have already promoted the likes of Ilya Solovyov, Martin Pospisil, Connor Zary and Matt Coronato this season, and now, on Thursday, the team officially did the same with Dustin Wolf.
In three years at the AHL level, Wolf has been down right unstoppable, winning back-to-back Goaltender of the Year awards, along with the 2022-23 AHL MVP award, posting an 82-21-6 record with a 2.24 GAA, a .927 save percentage and eight shutouts.
This recent promotion has led to speculation that either Jacob Markstrom or Dan Vladar could be on the way out with teams like Toronto and Edmonton looking for help in net, but now, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed something different.
In a recent tweet, Friedman speculated that this was due to injury protection, with Markstrom missing a recent practice rather than being traded, but if he excels in his time in the NHL like he has done in the AHL, this could potentially force Calgary's hand into making a big time trade.
For now though, it appears he'll get a game on their upcoming three game road trip, but nothing more as of yet.
